The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra will perform on Friday, 2nd February 2024 at the Silo District. Founded in 1914, the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra is arguably the most versatile and active orchestra on the continent of Africa, contributing handsomely to Cape Town’s global status and appeal. The multi-functional orchestra delivers a world-class orchestra service to all communities in the region, participating in festivals and concerts and across all genres of music for all to enjoy.
Chad Hendricks, principal conductor of the Cape Town Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, was exposed to music and conducting at an early age in the New Apostolic Church. After graduating with a BMus degree from University of Cape Town in 2015, he obtained a PGDip in conducting performance (cum laude) in 2019 from UCT.
He made his symphony concert debut in November 2018 with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) in the Huberte Rupert Memorial concert. He now works regularly around the country with various professional and amateur ensembles from the CPO, KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, Eastern Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, Johannesburg Festival Orchestra,South African National Youth Orchestra, UCT Symphony Orchestra and The New Apostolic Church Orchestra in Cape Town, where he is also chorus master..
